Raw materials for portland cement manufactury:

Limestone is a sedimentary rock, one of the main
cement components. For cement manufacture, marlaceous and porous limestones with low strength, not containing siliceous insertions are most suitable.

Clay is a finely dispersed sedimentary rock. For cement manufacture use is made of the following types of argillaceous rocks: clay, clay loam, clay slate, loess and loessial loams.

Mineralizing agents are raw materials taking part in
formation of clinker minerals during roasting. As mineralizing agents, in the cement industry use is made of calcium fluoride — fluoride CaF2, phosphogypsum, sodium silicofluoride Na2SiF6, apatite Ca(P04)3F, gypsum, etc.

Corrective additives: quartz sand, foundry flask, coke fines, etc.

Additives to be added to cement, while milling clinker: gypsum stone, blast-furnace granulated slag
Manufacture of portland cement

The portland cement manufacture process is constituted by the following operations:

Extraction of the raw materials;

Breakage, milling and mixing of the raw materials;

Roasting of the crude mixture in the rotary furnace
(clinker manufacture);

Fine milling of the clinker with the additives
(cement manufacture).

In case if you are going to import the raw materials, it shall be specified in the feasibility study.

Limestone stocks for at least 30 years located at a distance not exceeding 200 km from the cement plant site.

Availability of the chemical compositions of the raw materials, laboratory conclusions of the applicability of the raw materials for the cement manufacture.

Obtaining of the permits for construction of the cement plant.

Undergoing of the expert reviews and obtaining of the ecological licenses necessary for construction of the cement plant.

Availability in the location of construction of the cement mini-plant of possible connections thereof to the gas and power supply networks. It shall be necessary to find out at the electric and gas supply company if the necessary capacities can be allocated and to learn the connection cost.

Determine the preferable fuel type for the cement plant – natural gas, coal, diesel fuel, fuel transportation cost.

Availability of the necessary financing.

Technological process
The raw materials for the portland cement manufacture are extracted at quarries and are transported to the cement plant, where they are
broken in a roll-jaw or swing hammer crusher, following which the raw materials are milled in a ball or rolling mill. After it the pulverized raw
materials for portland cement manufactury are delivered by the conveyor line to the batching hoppers, from there they are fed into the mixer.
After the mixer, the pulverized raw materials (would-be portland cement) will be delivered by the conveyor line into the rotary furnace, where by
means of roasting, cement clinker is manufactured.
The finished cement clinker from the furnace will be delivered to the warehouse for storing clinker, blast-furnace granulated slag (if portland blast-furnace slag cement is manufactured) and gypsum.
Then the portland cement clinker and gypsum (portland cement) or clinker, gypsum and granulated slag (portland blast-furnace slag cement) through the batching hoppers will be fed into the ball or rolling mill, where by means of crushing to the specific surface of 3,000 cm2/g, cement of the set mark is manufactured. After it, the finished portland cement will be delivered by the conveyor line into the tank for storage (cement tank).
Following it, the cement is brought either on the line of pre-packaging into bags or big bags, or is shipped to the consumer into cement trucks in
bulk.
